Camelback Mountain in the distance
Phoenix, the sixth largest city in the country, is named after the lengendary bird which rose from its own ashes and was reborn.

Phoenix is a large yet friendly city. It has a desert climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year. Winters are mild and snow is rare. It gets hot in the summer (up to 115-120 f) but its a "dry heat."

We only spent one day in Phoenix this time around, but would like to see more eventually. I was suprised how cool it gets at night in the desert! ~ Helen
