We've been to Akumal a couple of times, the first time by car when we drove to Coba and then popped in here to swim from the beach and saw one of the most awesome sights, a giant sea turtle swimming in the short grass of the beach.
In December 2006, we stoppe near Akumal at Yal-Ku lagoon, one of the nicest daytrips I can remember in Mexico. Here's hoping they don't spoil it like they spoiled Xelha!
