East Chicago isn't part of Chicago, it's actually in Indiana and not even connected to Chicago although still not terribly far from it.

We tend to head into East Chicago mostly to eat, there are a number of very tasty options mostly for Mexican and Puerto Rican food

A gun made out of a washboard? I bet he must have bluffed his way out, I don't reckon soap powder would propel a bullet (assuming he had made some of those too!) very far...

Interesting story on bank robbery. First looking at the name I thought over immigrants from Eastern Europe living there, now I think it should be called South Chicago :-)

My husband Allan was born and raised in East Chicago when it was quite the place. He has fond memories of it and his football days at East Chicago Washington High School. Thanks for your pages.
