"Yalta" Yalta by Dabs

I was expecting Yalta, from the descriptions in my guidebooks, to be the Wisconsin Dells of Ukraine. Where were the fudge shops? The souvenir shop selling snow globes with Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill? The wax museum with a recreation of the 1945 summit between the world leaders?

Capitalism may have gotten it's foot in the door in Ukraine but it hasn't managed to spoil it quite yet. Yalta was refreshingly devoid of western tourists and western tourist traps although they had managed to come up with a few of their own, the boardwalk with it's odd collection of souvenir photo ops *pose here on a Harley* *pose here on a throne dressed as Marie Antoinette*, the lady selling drinks out of a giant plastic orange, the carnival games.
