Packing Lists: Change in altitude
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

  • Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you are heading up to Gornergrat or any place else with higher altitude, make sure you dress warm enough even in summer. I was fine, in August, with a fleece pullover and a light windbreaker. Hiking boots with treads are a good idea if you are doing any hiking or even if you're not in event the pavement is slick. Sunglasses and a hat might be useful as well.

Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Several people mentioned sunscreen but so little of me was exposed that I didn't feel I needed it. But if you are hiking and plan on spending several hours outside, it's a good idea as you burn easier at higher altitudes.

Did you go through Grand St. Bernard's Pass when you were there, Kristi?

Hi Dabs, Great tip! I've only been there in winter when we skied for two weeks, but it was sunshiny and sunscreen needed!
