Bled Transportation Tips by Dabs

We opted to rent a car for our visit to Slovenia because our time was really short, we left Piran in the late morning and arrived in the Bled area midafternoon. After seeing that there was a tunnel, the Bohinj Tunnel, on the map, I read a little further and upon seeing the word tourtuous used to describe the road I was considering taking, decided that the easiest and fastest route would be to go back through Ljubljana via the toll roads to get to Bled. If you have more time than we did, you might ask about the back roads, perhaps they would be more scenic but certainly tougher to drive.

The toll roads cost us 4.40E from Piran to Ljubljana on A1 and 1.60E from Ljubljana to Bled on the A2, stay out of the ABC lanes, they are for people with toll passes. It's a fast, flat highway that was very easy to drive, we did not hit any traffic and although a toll road the scenery was still very pretty. To get to Bled from Ljubljana follow the signs toward Kranj, coming from Piran we were off the highway for a short stretch near Ljubljana, the A1 and A2 do not connect.

Or you might opt for the Bohinj Tunnel which is a car-train tunnel which takes 10 minutes to go what would take you an hour on the roads. But there is a charge and there are a limited number of trains every day.
