Sibiu has been selected as the European Cultural Capital for 2007 so I'm sure that is a lovely historic place. The problem, of course, is that I visited Sibiu in 2005 when they were preparing for this honor, the main square, Piata Mare, is entirely ripped up although a nearby sign says that it should be complete by the end of 2005. |
|  | By 2007 the town should be cleaned and polished but then again, I'm not sure I'd want to be there in 2007 along with the herd of tourists (and naturally higher prices) that such designations bring.
Until then, it's a real challenge to get pictures without construction equipment, mounds of dirt or temporary fencing |

Great shot of a the man with a sickle :-) I was in Sibiu as a kid... it looked neglected that time, I have to revisit it after 2007, I see. |
