Restaurant Name: FEBO

I was fascinated by FEBO, although not fascinated enough to plunk money into one of the slots!

We passed by one of them in Amsterdam, FEBO is a chain of Dutch walk-up fast food restaurants, you can purchase certain items at the counter but most of the food is sitting inside little metal boxes, presumably under some sort of heating device, just waiting for you to plunk your Euros into it, sort of like a hot food vending machine.

Most of the food inside the boxes are krokets, described on one website as "a thick gravy or ragout, that is covered in breadcrumbs and then deep-fried." Doesn't that sound appetizing?

I had no idea that frites, French fries to all you Americans reading this, were so popular in Amsterdam but everywhere we turned in the central part of Amsterdam we saw someone selling them. I can't tell you which one we stopped at but as long as you aren't eating them from FEBO or McDonald's, they should be good.

We stopped at a place with a huge vat of fries, got a small to go in a paper cone with a little fork. Toppings are a little bit extra, we went for the mayo. Even the small was pretty substantial, a good snack for the two of us to share. A large will be big enough for a whole meal. Just like in Belgium, they are double fried
