OUr first visit to Budapest was in July 1995, during the middle of a dreadful heat wave. We stayed at a Soviet style Ibis far, far away from the Danube, with no a/c so we spent a full day lounging in the pools at Margaret Island.

We returned in August 2005 (didn't learn our lesson the first time on summer in Budapest!) staying at a hotel on the Danube, the Art'otel, a very big step up from the Ibis. We had two days of intense heat followed by a cold rainy day but we still enjoyed our visit.

Lots of interesting tips here! Really like the Pancakes you had, and what good value, would have to find that shop if ever there. I wouldn't mind seeing a Circus either, we hardly have them anymore in Australia.

Kristi, it is interesting to see Budapest through your eyes. I didn't know about the "clink beer glasses" custom. Fatal is indeed very popular among VTers. I have been there as well .... :-)

Wanted you to have visits during your holiday and so happy I discovered I had not rated Budapest. Loved the Children's Railroad and the baths. Your restaurant and hotel tips were terrific.
