My first visit to the capital of Belgium was in December 1995, one of the coldest winters on record. It was a deal on Sabena, which is no longer in business, we stayed in a nice hotel in an area that we are sure has been totally reconstructed and as we whizzed by Mannekin Pis (pun intended) and ran through the square, we thought Brussels was not a place that we really liked all that much.
The 2nd time through we literally stopped at the airport, picked up a car and waved at the city from the car windows.
The 3rd time, in September 2006, we finally hit it right, sunny skies, lots of people around and good heavens, why didn't someone warn me that waffles are addictive???? |
