When I planned to go to Maui several months ago I didn't know that I would be in a cast up to my knee. It wasn't quite the trip that I thought I'd be taking but thanks to my good friend Kat (keida84), her "sisters" Kris and Sally, I had a lovely time anyways and didn't sulk, well not too much!!!! And I got some summer reading in, a nice balcony with a beautiful view, a cool diet Mountain Dew and the 6th installment of Harry Potter (plus three less hefty books).
This was my 2nd trip to Maui, the 1st was in the mid 1990s when my husband and I found a fab fare on ATA and stayed in a beautiful condo in Kihei for something ridiculous like $79 per night. We did the top tourist activities on that trip, the road to Hana, sunrise on Haleakala, snorkeling at Molokini so I wasn't disappointed that we didn't/couldn't do them on this one.
Should you find yourself in Maui without having tripped over your big feet and ending up in a storm trooper boot, make the most of what Maui has to offer, the terrain goes from ocean to farmland to rainforest to waterfalls and volcanoes all within relatively few miles of each other. There's plenty to keep you busy here for a week, things we didn't do include the Road to Hana, Haleakala, snorkeling in Molokini, day trips to Molokai or Lanai.
- Pros:Beautiful beaches, warm weather, spectacular natural sights
- Cons:The most expensive of the islands
- In a nutshell:Paradise!

What a trooper you are! I am glad you went any and had a good time. The Lahina-Banyan Tree looks amazing. Great tips! Thanks for sharing your travels!
Paradise It Is!! You Have Some Wonderful Photos!!
Sounds a great trip even though you were carrying an injury :) Love the sound of the snorkeling cruise, the Torch Lighting ceremony (& tropical drinks of course) and naturally the winery ;)
Maui looks fabulous, as do those Macadamia pancakes!!
Back now it is finished :) Superb page Kristi, make sme want to go there for sure!!! Plus you had such great company! Great tips all round. Thanks x
Fantastic photos of your Maui expeditions! Your passion fruit drink interested me - my favourite tropical flavour. Great tip on the Banyan tree, I'm always impressed by them. That's a good idea on the condo too (we did that in Cancun)!
LOL well the trip to Dairy Queen really did not count because Kris did not have any, just me & Sally, so it was only official if Kris had one. Sulky? You? Hahahahahahahahahahaha you are loved anyway ;-))
Thanks for the "heads up about Maui. [08/02/07] It's been fun reading about your Maui adventure, and since I spent a month there, I can picture it all. Love the food tips.
Whoo-hoo!! A postcard! Thanks so much! One more and you're my all time #1 postcard giver. XX, E.
