Just back from my 2nd visit to York, one of my favorite day trips from London. Don't let the 200 miles distance from London dissuade you from visiting, it only takes 2 hours to get there by train from London's King Cross station. If you can afford the time to overnight there, even better, there is an awful lot to do in York and it looked like there were some fun ghost tours in the evening.
If you are visiting from London, try to book your train tickets in advance if you know what day you're going to visit, A LOT cheaper!!! |

SWFC_Fan Wed Jul 9, 2008 20:36 UTC Hey, you've been to North and West Yorkshire...but you missed the glorious South of our county! ;-) Great York tips and pics - I really should make the short journey there more often - haven't been since a trip to Jorvik Viking Centre in my schooldays! | sue_stone Fri Mar 2, 2007 17:57 UTC Another lovely page Kristi. I think I need to plan a weekend to York soon. I shall let you know how Betty's was ; ) | barryg23 Sat Feb 24, 2007 10:13 UTC Excellent page on York. I'm impressed at how much you saw in one day. | Nemorino Thu Aug 17, 2006 20:29 UTC Too bad you missed the Rail Museum, but it sounds like you packed a lot into one day. York claims to be the best cycling city in the U.K., by the way. |
