We visited Wexford by driving from Waterford where we were staying, it was the 2nd day of our trip to Ireland and we were still a bit tired from the flight so we spent the morning in Waterford and drove to Wexford after lunch. We stopped just outside of Wexford at the Johnstown Castle gardens, a lovely green oasis which would have been perfect for a picnic if we hadn't already eaten.

After visiting the gardens, we drove into Wexford to see the city, it was already late afternoon by that time so we had a walk down the main street, along the waterfront and past some of the old Norman architecture before having a lovely dinner at Le Tire Bouchon.

There were several things that we missed due to lack of time and a late start, the Irish National Heritage Park with full scale replicas of dwellings throughout Irish history looked like it might be interesting to visit as did the Wexford Wildfowl reserve.

I love going to Wexford. First went in 1982 with my cousin and since a couple of times with David. We come down by train...have lunch...look about then train back to Bray or Dublin.

The Johnstown Castle and gardens look very nice, and interesting reading about the the fiance becoming a Nun!

What a great restaurant tip! This was quite an interesting place to visit and I certainly enjoyed the descriptions, tales, and photographs.

Lovely little tour here. Interesting - we have twin churches here in Rome also atop the Spanish steps. <(??)>

Nice Wexford tips - and do you know that now Roche is one of the more common Wexford names all these centuries later. Methinks that man musn't have pined too long for his lady:-)
