After leaving the Grand Braderie at Lille, we drove south to Amiens. We got there too late to visit the cathedral but we enjoyed a nice walk through town and dinner followed by a walk past the cathedrale and along the Somme. The next morning we visited Peronne to see the Historial de la Grande Guerre museum and then onto Chantilly.

Amiens is in the heart of the WWI battlefields of the Somme and a good base to see some of the historical sites in the area.

That's an inviting lead photo of the reataurants along the Somme.

Sounds like a nice place to visit. Your meal looks rather good!

Amiens is actually so close to where I live, just opposite us on the English Channel, and yet I've never been there. Maybe I should make the effort at some point soon.

A shame about the rain but you seem to have had a nice cosy evening in the pub - I do like Leffe too :-) I'd like to see more of the WW1 battlefields area one day

Kristi, lovely little page with great photos. I have already heard a lot about this city, but never really made it there.
