Tortola was a stop on our January 2011 cruise and I mulled over two options, taking a ferry to Virgin Gorda to see the baths or heading over to Norman Island for some snorkeling, allegedly this was the setting for Stevenson's "Treasure Island". The baths won out, "Treasure Island" will have to wait until next time.

We didn't see any of Tortola except for the walk between the ferry terminal and the cruise ship port, most of the recommended excursions had you going by ferry to somewhere else, in addition to Virgin Gorda you can also go by ferry to Jost Van Dyke or Peter Island if you prefer more of a resort day.
