Although all of my friends seemed to be much more excited about the fact that I was visiting Rio de Janeiro on this trip, I was much more excited about visiting Buenos Aires, the city with insanely cheap top quality beef that melts in your mouth, rich creamy gelato and pizza on every corner, sensual tango dancers and it's billing as the "Paris of South America", well, it just sounded like my kind of place!!!! And an added bonus, no dental floss bikini required ;-) |
| | As we strolled the streets of Buenos Aires (don't believe those reports that I walk really fast), my husband next to me muttering under his breath that Buenos Aires was missing something, where was it's Eiffel Tower, it's Leaning Tower of Pisa, where were all the tacky gift shops, and I responded that perhaps the lack of those sorts of forced tacky tourist traps were precisely why I liked this city so much. Little here catered to the American tourist and you know that's pretty darn refreshing.
I just might go back again some day, just as soon as I recover from the meat coma! And I can fit back into my pants..... |

zully Wed Aug 12, 2009 18:30 UTC I went to La Brigada (San Telmo) on my first visit to Buenos Aires. The place was bustling with people waiting to be seated. We sat in the upstairs level were the walls are filled with football memorabilia. We were enjoying the delicious food | junecorlett Thu Apr 23, 2009 16:42 UTC La Boca really is very colourful Great tips, with plenty of info. | jumpingnorman Tue Feb 10, 2009 03:53 UTC Nice Buenos Aires tips - I love reading about BA...thanks for sharing, Norman :) | pchamlis Sun Jan 25, 2009 23:55 UTC I gotta love a beef-eatin' city like Buenos Aires, Kristi. Kind of reminds me of when we were in Namibia. THEY like beef and similar meats so much that they list chicken as a vegetable. Great page. |
