"Did I mention BEEF?" Buenos Aires by Dabs

Although all of my friends seemed to be much more excited about the fact that I was visiting Rio de Janeiro on this trip, I was much more excited about visiting Buenos Aires, the city with insanely cheap top quality beef that melts in your mouth, rich creamy gelato and pizza on every corner, sensual tango dancers and it's billing as the "Paris of South America", well, it just sounded like my kind of place!!!! And an added bonus, no dental floss bikini required ;-)
As we strolled the streets of Buenos Aires (don't believe those reports that I walk really fast), my husband next to me muttering under his breath that Buenos Aires was missing something, where was it's Eiffel Tower, it's Leaning Tower of Pisa, where were all the tacky gift shops, and I responded that perhaps the lack of those sorts of forced tacky tourist traps were precisely why I liked this city so much. Little here catered to the American tourist and you know that's pretty darn refreshing.
I just might go back again some day, just as soon as I recover from the meat coma! And I can fit back into my pants.....
- Pros:Inexpensive terrific food, architecture, tango
- Cons:Don't go into a meat coma

Really enjoyed reading this page. So much of interest here that I feel sure I would love this city too!
Mmmmm....steaks, pizzas and ice cream...I think I'd like Buenos Aires a lot!! :-)
Good tips... will come in useful when I near my country #40 as I go to South America in less than a month... hurray!!!
Good stuff, Kristi. We are heading to BA in about a week. I liked the restaurant tips, and it sounds like we'll be near where you stayed in Recoleta.
Hi, Kristi! Your page is helping me to understand this city better.... Thanks a lot! ><><><><
When I visited the Botanical Gardens I thought I was in a cats sanctuary! I've never so many in one place! Off to BA again in January! Can't wait!
I went to La Brigada (San Telmo) on my first visit to Buenos Aires. The place was bustling with people waiting to be seated. We sat in the upstairs level were the walls are filled with football memorabilia. We were enjoying the delicious food
La Boca really is very colourful Great tips, with plenty of info.
Nice Buenos Aires tips - I love reading about BA...thanks for sharing, Norman :)
One of my favorite cities in the world!
