We visited Reims, the largest city in Champagne, on a daytrip from Paris although many people visit the Champagne area and spend several days there sampling the wares from the many different champagne houses/cellars that you can visit. Another highlight is the magnificent Notre Dame cathedral where the kings of France were crowned.

Hotel de Ville

I don't think we visited Reims at the best time of year, the town was rather quiet during the period between Christmas and New Year's, a lot of businesses seemed to be closed and there were not a lot of tourists wandering about.

holy schmoly, this is the place i need to visit! champagne abounds! and not just cheap champers either, but the top notch stuff! wonky needs to get here some day! :)

Those are impressive looking buildings you toured in Reims! Yes, December is the 'off-season' for tourism in Europe, but I've quite enjoyed our last two winter trips to England. If only I could swing France into the mix one of these times!

What a lovely Reims page Kristi. Especially enjoyed St. Remi's Basilica and Notre Dame with its amazing brilliant blue "Marc Chagall" stained glass window.
