In the Fall of 1998 I told my dad that I was going to South East Asia and specifically to Vietnam. He had talked about going back for several years now. He is an episcopal priest and at the time was on sabatacle. He told me he couldn't go and gave some excuses. I told him I would call him again in a week and ask again.
Well when I called a week later he had practically organized the whole trip already. He was so excited.
So I left early and spent two months travelling Thailand, Burma and Cambodia before I met my dad in Thailand. We spent three days there and head right to Saigon and began a four week trip together and saw and increadible amount Vietnam.
He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed in the Western 3rd Corp. in 1967. He was a platoon leader for his first 6 months and on the batallion staff the second as a artillary logistics officer. He flew around in a Hue from Siagon to the Cambodia border supporting artillary units and getting shot at.
In this page you may find some photos of our trip. My dad has a complete journal online at
Return to Vietnam
Enjoy,

It was great experience for me to travel with my father to such a place that was pivotal in his life 32 years earlier. It was because of his experience here in 1967 that changed his path for ever into become an Episcopal Priest and the increadible spirital person who he is. The rock of our family. In this shot, however, he looks pretty wiped out from descending Nui Ba Den, a land mark during his time in 1967. It was completely taken by the VC except for the very top and he always wanted to climb it.
