General Info: And What About Bathing in Your Accomodation?

Bathing: We used showers with no curtains (which transform the entire bathroom into the shower) everywhere except in the desert where we bathed in frog infested lakes. Most places had hot water by shower, others by bucket only (stove heated water put into a bucket and brought to your room for a small fee- called a geyser). A few places had cold water only. Most rooms came with a bucket that we used to wash our clothes periodically.

General Info: What Kind of Toilets You may see

Toilets: Desert scrub and sand, walled room on a slab of cement undetectably slanted with a small hole in the corner with a tap for rinsing (Unbelievable!), squat toilet, hybrid (mix between Eastern squat and Western toilet), and Western toilet.

General Info: Accomodation in India

This leg of the race we stayed in either guesthouses or budget hotels (except on the camel safari where we 'camped'). The rooms generally had two twin beds pushed together and a fan. The beds had a fitted sheet and pillow case and sometimes a blanket. Some rooms had windows, other did not. A few had TVs. No air-conditioning, however a few rooms were air-cooled (step between fan and air con). We usually got rooms with a bathroom however in Jaisalmer we had a shared toilet and shower because we couldn't pass up a room for only 80 rupees (less than $2/night total). Cockroaches come free at most hotels. ($3.23 per day/avg each)
