The DC Cheery Blossom Festival is a highly marketed event in Washington. Tons of people come out to see the cheery trees bloom in a dazzling white.

Depending upon the weather, the crowds can be rediculous. There are plenty of out of the way places to enjoy the blossoms but not anywhere near the tidal basin or the Mall.

In 2005 the crowds were awful. It took forever to park. Definately consider the metro and park outside the city.

The blooms last no more than two weeks. They start to wilt and brown quickly so be sure to see them at their peak. It varies from year to year but is usually in the beggining to middle of April.
