Boulders Beach Penguin Colony

by Waxbag - last update: Dec 8, 2004

Hello I'm a Penguin
Simon's Town is the third oldest settlement in South Africa. It was named after the governor Simon van der Stel. Because of it excellent location protect inside False Bay, it was the VOCs winter anchorage in 1741 and is presently a naval base.

It is most famous for its African Penguin (Jackass Penguin) colony at Boulders beach located 3 km south of the town center.
