"Kisumu just for passing through" Kisumu by Waxbag
Kisumu Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 31 photos
There's not much happening in Kisumu for torists. It is the 3rd largest town in Kenya and there are interseting political and social happenings. Pick up a newspaper and inevitable there is something big happening here. There are a couple of good restaurants and some cheap accomodation. We stopped over from Masai Mara heading to Kakamega.
Head down to the lake off ofOginga Odinga Rd and watch the locals clean there matatus (mini vans) or check out a local football match.

Kisumu would have been a very beautiful, well-developed town but it has been totally ignored by its elected leaders who choose to live in Nairobi's luxury. Smaller towns like Thika, Kisii, Eldoret are better developed than Kisumu because their elected leaders care about their towns and the people. What a shame for Kisumu's leaders because even finding piped water in Kisumu is a luxury just for the well-to-do. It is ridiculous considering that there is a fresh water lake in the town.
