SWISS MUSEUM - Zürich
SWISS MUSEUM Swiss National Museum Review

A great place to look at if you are waiting for a train! The building looks like it came from a fairytale and I hope that next time I'm in Zurich I will have the time to take a closer look.

PLATZSPITZ Swiss National Museum Review

This park area is next to the Swiss National Museum and is where the two rivers in Zurich (Limmat and Sihl) meet. Its so close to the main station that there is no excuse not to see this!

ST PETERS CHURCH St. Peter's Church Review

This landmark is Zurich's oldest parish church. It has the largest tower clock face in Europe. Its located in a pretty little square with a tree where you can rest a while, take life slowly and soak up the swiss atmosphere.

Address: St. Peterhofstatt

Directions: Off Bahnhofstrasse

HARBOUR AREA - Zürich
HARBOUR AREA Lake Zürich Review

What better place to gaze at the distant moutains and wait for your boat cruise to leave? Walk around a bit and enjoy the flowers in the summertime. I found this impressive statue in a little park area.

Getting sunburnt on the boat - Zürich

Getting sunburnt on the boat

LAKE CRUISE Lake Zürich Review

I couldn't resist getting out onto the lake and so I opted for a short boat cruise of one and a half hours (enought time to get sunburnt!) The cruise does a circuit and goes in a different direction each time. I chose the anti-clockwise direction which meant I could get off at the park and walk alongside the lakeside back into town. There are so many variations of boat cruise to chose from but the ticket salespeople at the harbour are friendly and helpful.

Painted cow overlooking the old town - Zürich

Painted cow overlooking the old town

COWS

After the bright red swiss flag, the swiss army knives and cuckoo clocks, it seems the symbol of all things swiss is the cow. I chanced upon a few painted cows during my walks round the city. There was one near the harbour on top of the ticket kiosk, one near the Quai bridge on top of a boat rental and the colourful blue one on a balcony overlooking a restaurant in the old town (complete with name and other details). I even found a camouflage cow poster on one of the shops selling Swiss army knifes along the Limmatquai. If you are a cowmaniac then don't forget to try out the Crazy Cow restaurant and hotel in Leonhardstrasse!!!

Niederdorfstrasse - Zürich

Niederdorfstrasse

OLD TOWN STREETS Old Town - Altstadt Review

The weather wasn't always perfect during my trip to Zurich but I found that the old town streets - Niederdorferstrasse, Oberdorferstrasse and the Limmatquai were great for window shopping! There was a great jewellrey shop down one street with all different sorts of bags and rings. There were some nice clothes shops on the Limmatquai. The shops close earlier than I expected on Saturdays (around 4pm).
