Trying hard to bowl! - Vienna

Trying hard to bowl!

(TEN PIN) BOWLING (Cumberland Sports Centre)

I just discovered how terrible I really am at 10 pin bowling but its still great fun! There are a few places to go in Vienna but I have only been to one at Sportcenter Cumberland. Its in the suburbs but easy to reach by underground. A game costs around 3.50 Euros and shoe hire is 1.50 Euros. There is a bar and pizza.

There are also badminton and tennis courts as well as saunas and massage.

Address: Cumberlandstrasse 102, 1140 Vienna

Directions: Near U4 station Unter St. Veit

A busy Saturday afternoon in the Theresienbad - Vienna

A busy Saturday afternoon in the Theresienbad

SWIMMING

Especially great in warmer weather, there are so many outdoor swimming pools to choose from and you will find them packed out with sun-hungry viennese at weekends.
In fact there are more than 30 swimming pools and saunas in Vienna (for their names and links to their pages see www.wien.gv.at/baeder/baeder) some of which are only open in the summer.
For more general information including opening hours and prices also see www.wien.gv.at/baeder/. These also detail water aerobics and other activities. Most pools have an afternoon price which is a lot cheaper than a day ticket for example the Theresienbad only costs 2.50 Euro for an adult after around 3pm.
My recommendations are:
Amalienbad (10, Reumannplatz U1)
Theresienbad (12, Meidlinger Hauptstrasse U4)
Schafbergbad (18, Josef-Redlgasse 42B bus)
Kongressbad (17, Julius Meindlgasse S45 Hernals or 43 tram)
And last but not least my local indoor pool Margaretenbad (5, near Margaretenplatz, 13a bus, U4 Pilgramgasse) has tropical evenings and a great slide.

CLIMBING - Vienna
CLIMBING

I am always fascinated when I watch the climbers at the climbing wall on the Flakturm in the 6th district Esterhazypark. There are several climbing areas in Vienna, this particular one is open April to October during good weather from 14:00 onwards. To have a go contact the Alpenverein, Vienna section
585 47 48 or look at www.oeav-events.at/

me having fun playing golf - Vienna

CRAZY GOLF

I hate to admit it, but my favourite fun sport is crazy golf. To play in Vienna head to the Prater (U1/tram 5/S1/S2/S3 Praterstern). There are two golf courses, my favourite is the one behind the Riesenrad (big wheel).

BOULES

There are 4 summer boules lanes in the Museumsquartier (near U2 Museumsquartier or Volkstheater. ) Rules are posted in German and English and you can hire the boules from the ticket counter.
