"OLYMPOS" Olympos by mel_bee

There was a lot more to Olympos than just the fascinating treehouse accommodation! When we arrived most people headed to the bar for a drink, I dropped my luggage, grabbed my camera and swim stuff and took the free hostel transport to the beach, trying to make it before the sun set. On entering the historical site which leads down to the beach I was met by picturesque scenery and ancient ruins, beyond that a beautiful bay. I enjoyed some swimming before walking back to the hostel and the chance to explore the treehouses.
Olympos is well worth the experience of a stopover or a couple of days.

When it gets dark in Olympos, the area takes on a mystical feeling, you find that you are sat on cosy Turkish cushions under a canopy amongst treehouses, meeting new people and enjoying some locally cooked food. Outdoor fires are lit and then there is the offer of a trip to see the famous eternal flames of the Chimera. Yes, it was a tiring walk and you need a torch but well worth it, especially if like some people you bring something to grill or melt in the flames. After all that excitement, head back to the tree houses for some great nightlife and a bit of bellydancing!
