Istanbul was one of the most fascinating places I have ever been to and started off my love of Turkey.
The guidebook promised me that when I arrived by train I would sweep round a curve and the city would be before me in all its glory. It was right and I was thrilled and deeply impressed from that moment on! What would you expect from a city which is located in two continents??
I spent several days exploring the sites but left a few things out so I have an excuse to return!
What would I recommend to anyone who is visiting Istanbul?
* try the delicious food
* tiptoe through the Blue Mosque
* experience the beauty of the call to prayer
* marvel at the Aghia Sofia
* bargain in the Grand Bazar
* drink a cup of caj
* explore the Topkapi Palace and beautiful Harem
* go on a Bosphorus cruise
* take time to relax and watch the sunset.
