Why are the white birds travelling west? | View south from Bruxner Park Coffs Harbour |
A closer look at this photo taken from Bruxner Park (just north of Coffs Harbour), shows a beautiful bird in its cloud formation.
FOR A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DISCOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT OF AUSTRALIA
http://www.australianexplorer.com/australian_history.htm
While looking after grandchildren yesterday, I noticed that a flock (well six flocks really), of a large white bird were all travelling West at dusk. Is this part of a migration or just a travelling home after a day of play?
Birds are in the news this week with the massacre of most of the population of baby mutton birds. The National Parks and Wildlife people are thinking now that it may have been the work of a fox. I will keep you informed.
As I was leaving my son's house I marvelled at the colony of flying fox blackening the sky while heading out for their evening food search.
UPDATE: WONDERFUL INFORMATION just to hand....well a couple of days ago I was impressed to learn of this. The Australian Government has produced a National Public Toilet Map website......www.toiletmap.gov.au Quoting from the information leaflet.....'this helpful site shows the location of over 15000 toilet facilities across Australia.....' It goes on to say that the toilet locations can also be accessed from your mobile phone for the cost of a standard call. AND the toilet map also offers trip-planning functions, downloading of GPS coordinates and large maps with a zoom function. Well it looks as though you will never be short of a loo when you are here.....wish Italy had the same. |
| Having a whale of a time. |
| | It's a, it's a, it's a Whale's Tail. When we aren't experiencing a water shortage, this monument to the whale is truly beautiful. The council, turns the water on and a stream of water cascades off the full width of the tail..............just beautiful.
Australia and Australians are pretty proud of the efforts that we've made to save the whales from extinction. So far, success is ours and this one's brothers and sisters can often be seen off our coastline.
While on the subject of pride for Australians I came across this site that highlights Aussie inventions and there are quite a few surprises in here. http://www.whitehat.com.au/Australia/Inventions/InventionsA.html Amazing inventors. |
Stanwell Park NSW Australia It is when you see a picture like this you can understand why someone might say, Life's a beach in Australia. I took this photo in 1964 while on a hike to stay at a place called Burning Palms.....at that time, walking down the mountain was the only way to get there...............it was soooooo quiet, peaceful and downright beautiful to be there. My Mum and Dad never took us again but I do remember this time clearly. | | | Stanwell Park, NSW, Australia |
