  • In Australia I often feel like I am being watched like a hawk......e.g. last time in Sydney I was looking at the train timetable when out of nowhere came a policewoman brushing past me on a mission of mercy? No she just saw a young man drop a lolly wrapper and motioned to him to pick it up quick smart. He did, and walked to the bin to be rid of the offensive item............peace reigned again.

It is different in Rome...........it must be that the people get so carried away with what they are looking at that they forget to take their rubbish with them................ah well.

  • But this one, in the front of the National Museum of Rome was not dissimilar to a couple that I photographed in Minturno. It makes you wonder what they stored in them in ancient Roman times, don't you think?

  • Rome to-day. Digging up the past, looking at the past, examining the past and all of its glory, is the job for archeologists. Our job becomes one of looking through the windows newly opened to see what we can see and discern how these ancient peoples lived, from what has been dug up.

I think that it pays to pause and reflect when you come across these diggings..........can be found all over Italy.............this scene, theatre and all from Minturno -- south of Rome.

  • The Domes of Rome......

  • There seem to be just so many domes in Rome and all seem to be attached to a church. So is it the custom that the people of Italy go to church a lot or is it a case of they did in ancient times? I have been hearing that the people of Italy aren't as regular church goers as I was led to believe.

Enjoyed your take on Rome and off the cuff commentary. A week next year loks as though it should be stretched to a month if I'm to do and see all the things that interest me. leyle

I liked the colosseum aspects travellogue Carole. And as usual, I like the way you look at buildings, at the city, at history. I never visited Castel Sant'Angelo, may be I will have to do one day; it seems it is one of your favourites on this planet.
