Sydney Things to Do

Skyline of Sydney: You must get up somewhere high and have a look.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Sydney Skyline of Sydney
  • On top of the world.

  • Sydney's skyline is best viewed from a high spot somewhere -- this from the verandah of a unit where I visited some years ago. Other opportunities can be from the Harbour Bridge Walk or indeed from the plane window as you arrive. Just beautiful.

Beaches: You must see at least one sunrise from a beach.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Sunrises and water seem to go together and Sydney has a lot of this, ie beautiful beaches and glorious sunrises. Make the effort.

Parks / National Parks / Gardens: Be sure to see a range of our native plants.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Sydney Parks / National Parks / Gardens
  • Another Native - The Banksia.

  • The beautiful Banksia is just unique. The colour is like sunrise here (which can be brilliant), the foliage is no nonsense and the tree is hardy...........all admirable qualities. It stands out in the bush and I guess if I can liken a plant to a place, it reminds me of Sydney (although this photo was taken in Woolgoolga on the mid-north coast)

Address: You can see many in the bush, the gardens etc.
Directions: In Sydney, you would definitely find them at the Botannical Gardens.

Zoo / Aquarium/ Animal parks: Something that I have never seen before
  • Tip Rating:
  • While I have seen plenty of koala in the wild and often with babies on their backs, this was the first time that I had ever seen a baby suckling its mother. Although this was taken at Taronga Park Zoo and far from being totally in the wild, every effort is made to keep all of the animals in as close to their proper environment as possible.

Parks / National Parks / Gardens: Talking about parks and gardens

  • I have just returned from a five day trip to Sydney where I got up to a bit of mischief but also took some photos......ha, ha.

On Monday, I took a walk after hopping off a bus at Circular Quay. Among those things that I saw, like the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, was the Oriental Gardens within the Botannical Gardens in Sydney. This flower was alongside a yellow one which is the same variety as one that I have at home. Glorious colour don't you think?

Harbour Bridge / Anzac Bridge: Can you guess what this is?
  • Tip Rating:
  • Sydney Harbour Bridge / Anzac Bridge
  • S.H.B. from the passenger seat.

  • Come on, I am sure that you can guess. I took this photo through the front window of my brother's car on Tuesday as he was reminding me of the sights of Sydney.

You guessed it. We are driving on the Harbour Bridge.

Address: It can be seen from many vantage points in Sydney
Directions: To get a shot like this you have to be in the front seat of a vehicle heading North out of Sydney ........... and................not in the driver's seat ........LOL

Here's me again doing my back seat driving from the front passenger seat...........No, I didn't do the driving.........I was tempted but ahhh, well, 'X' (meaning very many) years of unblemished driving............ha,ha.
