Wonderful City - Great people - | The changing face of the city March, 07 |
There is so much to do in Sydney and surrounding townships that it can be difficult to just pick one or two. For instance I was told just the other day that the Archibald prize paintings were on show at the NSW Art Gallery, so being in the city, I detoured there and enjoyed looking for a couple of hours. Just wonderful. There is also an interesting museum, which in one part of my youth I visited almost daily........ maybe this is where I got my interest in old stuff from.
Central station is unique too. For many years as you approached (by train) and on the left hand side their was an ad for pre packed bread. It said (and it has always stuck in my mind) "What you eat to-day, walks and talks to-morrow". |

| | Sydney to share Have many photos to share of Sydney since my November 2003 trip that I thought that I might change the lead photo periodically.
This was taken on the Anzac Bridge which is close by the Sydney Fish Markets and in view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. |
Circular Quay (A MYSTERY SOLVED) SEE BELOW FOR MAGIC SILVER ROSE UPDATE Circular Quay, while not a train terminus, there is a station here as well as ferry and bus station. There has been some talk as to why is the Circular Quay so named and I don't know the reason -- someone else out there might know. As you leave the quay by ferry (see picture) you do get a little bit of a semi circle feel though. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE THANK YOU MAGIC SILVER ROSE who just visited my page and solved the mystery. She said:- Circular Quay used 2 b called Semi-Circular Quay, because it was, they reclaimed land & there is now dated marks on the pavement showing previous levels. guess they just shortened the name as usual. THANK YOU | | | Ferrying away from Circular Quay. |
