Urunga a retirees delight. I lived in Urunga for a couple of years when I first moved north of Sydney. The most peaceful place that could be found at the time. Just beautiful. This photo was taken from the footbridge (next photo) that leads you to Hungry Head Beach.

| | Urunga's ancient footbridge. The footbridge takes you from the caravan park, over the pool, the beginnings of the Kalang (later to become the Bellingen River), sand dunes, past the inlet from the ocean and finally to Hungry Head beach. It is a pretty popular fishing place and also boasts a golf course. |

| | A really old footbridge Connects the little fishing village with the surf beach of Hungry Head. You can walk to hungry head by walking this bridge or drive south a few kilometres to again access the beach.
The lagoon at Hungry Head afforded me quite a few opportunities to teach my children to swim............it was safer than the surf. There is a surf club here and the beach is patrolled on the weekends. It also has quite a popular camping area. |

tiabunna Sun May 7, 2006 10:22 UTC I haven't been through that part of the world in years. Isn't it interesting though, how just a few litte touches such as the mosaics, give such a lift to the impression of the town gained by visitors. A very enjoyable page. | tapis_volant Sat Apr 8, 2006 11:39 UTC I always think of you, Carole, as I pass through Urunga!!! | keeweechic Sat Apr 1, 2006 11:18 UTC I was thinking that Hungry Head might have been dangerous (by the name). I doubt you can be 'boringly ordinary' :-)..Great location for that restraurant. Lovely spot to have lived. | luckyzen Thu Feb 16, 2006 18:09 UTC Carole, You have been to some wonderful destinations. Thank you so much for sharing! Yes, Venice is one of my best in Europe, with or without a partner! ~:)))) |
