It's small, but it has a lot of cool stuff. Movie stills from various 40s, 50's, 60's films, fun t-shirts, collectible things, browsing things, just good stuff.
I had a lot of fun just rummaging through and discovering many very cool things. It's a good thing I was on a long walk and didn't have my wallet with me. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhoos - or anywhere near it!
Open from 2pm to 7pm Tuesday through Thursday. Noon to 7 on Saturdays. Sundays are iffy. Call first!
What to buy: Whatever you find interesting!
What to pay: Prices ranged based on the condition and rarity of the stills. I saw some very interesting photos at $2, and others were over $50.
Address: 205 Columbia Street
Directions: Take the F train to Union, and walk from Smith to Court to Clinton to Henry to Hicks (cross over the BQE) to Columbia. Take a right from Union, and it's a block and a half from there.
(It's not as far as it sounds!)

Look ma! There's parking!
ABC has opened up a DUMBO location and it's crowded, but more with stuff than with people.
Lots of carpets, and lots of large wooden pieces. Fewey knick-knacks...which is good. There is parking available, and the staff is very eager to please.
What to buy: Depends on what you're in the mood for! Doors? Couch? Table? There were some cool dressers...if you have an extra $1800. (Wanna buy a bridge??)
A large selection. The fun is always in wandering around.
What to pay: completely depends on the item!
Address: 20 Jay Street (at Plymouth)
Directions: Take the F train to York, or get out at Brooklyn Heights. Walk towards the water, you'll see it soon!
To drive....hmmm. Well, I'd suggest calling them for the best directions. (phone number coming soon!)

This shop has wondeful artwork, jewelry (nice amber!), a wide variety of gifty items, and there are even some pieces of furniture. Lots of wall-hangings, too!
The colors are gorgeous, and while the prices are painful for a thrifty person like me...they aren't outrageous.
What to buy: I think the jewelry is especially unique and interesting.
What to pay: Better than Manhattan or Smith Street, that's for sure.
Address: 370 7th Avenue
Directions: Take the N/R to Union or take the F train to 7th Avenue. The B67 also goes past it on 7th Ave. It's on the corner at 11th street.

Desire for something other than Barnes and Noble? This is a very sweet bookshop with comfy seating, soft lighting (no garishness here) and a knowledgeable staff. They may not have ALL the books in the world, but the selection is interesting and the display always shows something a little different.
What to buy: Ummm. Books?
Support small business!
What to pay: There was a discount on some books, but most were the list price.
Address: 8415 3rd Avenue - Bay Ridge, Brooklyn
Directions: Take the R train to 86th Street and then walk over from 4th Avenue. The B4 also comes within a few blocks.

A small, but wonderful selection
This is a very cute shop on 6th Avenue and Union Street in Park Slope. It has a small selection of toys for the younger set, but it's focus seems to be clothing and mommy needs.
Open M-F 11 - 7 pm
or Sat and Sun 10 - 6 pm
What to buy: Breast pump supplies, good nursing support, "made in Brooklyn" onesies and t-shirts, and a solid selection of maternity outfits make up the bulk of the items.
The owner is very knowledgeable and very kind. It's not cheap, but the items are high quality. Stop in if you need a gift or an emergency back-up bra!
What to pay: How much depends on what you buy, of course. I bought a $4 baby gift (very cute vibrating insect thing) and a $17 "Brooklyn" one-piece outfit as a gift.
Address: 204 6th Avenue
Directions: It's on the corner of Union and 6th Avenue. Take the N/R to Union street and walk up two blocks from 4th Avenue.
