"San Vito Lo Capo" San Vito lo Capo by trilbi

San Vito Lo Capo is a small fishing village situated on the northwestern coast of Sicily near Trapani. It is well known because of the magnificent landscape and archaeological sites. There are some spots really worth seeing, like the splendid natural reserve of the Zingaro, the Chapel of Santa Crescenza in Arab-Norman style or the old "Tonnara del Secco " where the fishing and the preparation of the tuna was done.
The influence of different cultures is reflected in the food, like everywhere in Sicily but here it's probably a little more obvious being the fish couscous the main specialty of the area.

I went there more than 10 years ago and I remember I was very impressed by the quality of the preparations. Now San Vito Lo Capo has become the international capital of couscous!
Since 1998, in late September they organize a Couscous Festival, a friendly culinary competition where the best chefs of Italy, Ivory Coast, Israel, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal and Tunisia prepare the "ultimate couscous".
This year it's going to be on 24-29th September, so if you are around try to go.
