This town used to be the Stuff Stephen King Novels were made of! This is mostly a "City Under One Roof" as most of the population lives in an apartment residence called the "Buckner Building" which was built in 1953. It contains 1000 units, it was originally built as army barracks. This town used to only be accessable by rail and sea, but a tunnel has been built so you can drive in now. This has lessened the creepy value on this town a great deal. If you would like to virtual drive the tunnel to Whittier, try this site: http://www.dot.state.ak.us/creg/whittiertunnel/virtualdrive.htm | | |
