Cellule 133a with the resident teacher Vincent
In front of the St Gilles Prison, great place to dance tango on Friday evening and last Sunday of the month (from 4pm). The place is relaxed, a lot of sofas, a warm atmosphere with candlelights, etc.... a mix between the old place 'Rue de l'Argonne' and the relaxed tango atmosphere of the dissapeared Rue de l'argonne, the international El Corte (Nijmegen) and Tango Colon (Cologne). The host is Vincent Morelle, one of our internationaly famous Brussels tango teacher ;-)

Les Bains is an old swimming pool converted into a social-art laboratory. Everything related to art is possible : exhibitions, art workshops, concert... The aim is to develop an alternative relationship with the audience. The visitors are invited to participate and to be the witness of a creative process. The association that occupies the swimming pool tries to find ways to wake up the consciousness of the citizens about the problems of the protection of the environnement, the economy and creativity.
And the tango asbl 'alma del sur' had the good idea to use it for its once a month tango ball (the second saturday of the month). I tried it and the experience is unique and fabulous!
Most of pool funitures are all there (ladder, diving board, blue tiles, etc) giving a vary special feeling! The floor (the surface of the pool) is spacious, there is comfortable sofas and enough seats for everybody plus possibility to seat all around the swim/tango floor, the size of the building enable a great air change so it is never too warm, the lights are warm, ... Well I recommand it absolutely!
Dress Code: Casual or tango dress but most important : the tango shoes (or sneakers) :-)

The n° 35 of the "Rue de l'Argonne" was a very famous place of the tango lovers (also internationally) a couple of years ago. So after have been closed for a while, tango came back in its temple on two occasions. The association LePont rented the room to organize their first and second milongas. Hopefully will there be other occasions in the near future because the special atmosphere is still present... even if the old furnitures and decoration that gave so much charm to the place are not there anymore!
On the second milonga, on the 18th of June, my tango partner and I did our first real tango performances there... a very intense moment :-)

The cabaret is situated in a narrow mysterious dead end, between the number 22 and 24 of the famous "pita" street, and housed in a small old renovated house with a transparent roof. Inside, the atmosphere is very cosy ... with exposed beams and a nice open fire.
If you want to hear French songs, this cabaret is the good destination! Suzanne Fery, the proprietary will welcome you personnally and make sure you will enjoy your evening!
There is a show every Friday and Saturday at 9 pm. (Opening of the cafe at 7 pm)
Reservation is recommanded and the programme is available on the website.
Here on the picture, a future world star : her grandson Nicolas in a special private juggling show for the birthday of my friend Corine.
(A big thank to Suzanne, Charles and Nicolas for this afternoon!)

The tango bar is the place where you can practice your tangos on Wednesday. It begins at about 9.30pm (Ik think, I usually go there at 10pm!).
There is a bar (where you can socialize, drink and rest) and a little bit further, the dance place with the dance floor, surrounded by wooden walls, looking a bit like a small theater with a scene and sofas on it. The atmosphere there is very cool, relaxed and the music very good! Most of the time, at the end of the milonga/practica or even in the middle, you can enjoy very special tangos!
Be carefull, the floor is quite slippery...so don't forget it when you choose your dancing shoes before going there!
The entrance cost 2,5 euros.

Red symphony at the havana's
The Havana is a latino restaurant that become a latino bar/dancing after midnight.
Restaurant : The food was good...I was with my company and we had a buffet of various cold tapas (serrano ham, salad,...) and warm tapas (empanadas with cheese, calamars..) I could not decide what to take... I tasted almost all tapas and I liked them very much :-) I loved also the brownies we had as dessert! Luckily was dance on the programm after the meal to burn all the calories I ate!
Dancing : the music played there after midnight is a mix of actual latin, pop and dance music. It is usely very crowded, so there is no a lot of space to dance salsa or merengue when the corresponding music is played...except if you go dancing upstairs at about twelve :-)
Address: Rue de l'épée, 4 1000 Brussels
