My travels in this region have included Taquille, Amantani and the Uros Islands. This 2-3 day trip is very inexpensive and the price will not vary much whether organized by a tour company ($9.00 US) or by yourself. If you do choose to go by yourself, you'll be putting more money into the local peoples hands than if you use a tour company which takes a portion as a commision.

Uros - from a distance

The pricing I've mentioned includes all home stay accomodation, meals (at your homestay) and transportation to and from the islands. Very cheap.

You can learn alot about this simple but hard life. The photo opportunities are spectacular but the air is thin :-)
