Adventures at Home

Fall 2010 - Amazing things happen when you mix Scandinavian and Canadian DNA - we call her Emilia.
We're looking forward to spending 8 months in Stockholm on paternal leave starting this winter in preparation for our eventual move to Sweden. In the meantime, we've been busy changing diapers, renovating our home and rental property and saving the occasional life @ work. Happy travels all! Te

Fall 2009 - Panama, Central America:

Summer 2009 - Sweden, Scandinavia:
Easy going times in Bromma, Stockholm at the wife's place with some road trips to Goteborg, Essungua, Huduksvall, Darlana and a few other places up north.

Spring 2009 - Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies:
Great roti, styayed at a nice place on the beach of Castara, winding roads and good grooves.

Winter 2008 - Montreal, Canada:
Really cold weather... stayed at great bed and breakfast with the flu ;)

Summer 2008 - British Columbia, Canada:
Family time with a little adventure and fishing thrown in for good measure.

Spring 2008 - Cuba:
A place we've always wanted to go but backpacking style. Tons of great food, cheap drinks, amazing music EVERYWHERE, new friends and a real cool vibe. The architecture, culture and setting is extremely unique. Stay far away from Veradero. Do visit Havana and the farther reaches of the country.

Summer 2007 - Paramedic:
Well, after toiling it out for a couple yrs with a little travel between years, I've finally graduated as a Paramedic and found a job. Who'd a thought? Feels good and I love the new line of work. Ambulances, Helicopters, ERs, Streets, Buildings, Rain, Shine.... Always new, always challenging, always exciting and always an adventure! ... UPDATE... ppl are retarded. The human condition is far below what I could have ever imagined. Still a cool job where you make stupid amounts of cash for the occasionally really stressful (real) call but usually it's just retarded ppl that don't have a car, are too lazy to walk or can't afford a cab/bus to the hospital. No complaints other than system abuse. :-)

Spring 2007 - Costa Rica:
Took a trip to Costa Rica with the girl. Not a place I ever thought I would like much but... it was quite nice, if a little expensive. A very easy country to travel. They've got the tourism thing down, if that's what you're looking for. I personally prefer things a little more on the raw side.

Summer 2006 - Sweden:
From Colombia, we flew back to Toronto for a couple days and then to Sweden for the month of August... meeting the girl's parents, learning about and soaking up Swedish culture. I felt a bit of sadness/lack of joy amongst the people... at least in contrast to Canada or to Colombia where I had spent the previous 2 months. Hard to say what the causation would be? Regardless, a great place with much to offer. Check out the many islands of the archipelago if you get a chance! Next time I'll be sure to head north for some long treks.

Summer 2006 - Colombia:
is very dangerous, DON"T EVER GO THERE!!! You may encounter beautiful scenery, freindly people and have a great time. Be very careful! As I thought.... it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. Spent two months exploring the country. A life changing experience. My girl was able to join me for the last two weeks of the trip which was great.

What are these pages all about?
The adventures that make up my pages cover diving, camping, canoeing, jungle stories, strange toilets and many other things I've experienced while romping about in the sandboxes of this wonderful planet. While my tips and information are geared more towards the "No/Low-Star " adventure traveler, there's a little something for everyone.

If you know of any beautiful, challenging, not-to-be-missed wilderness adventures anywhere in this world, please let me know, I'm always seeking new experiences!

Nicaragua

Nothing better than a 10-day "chill" break in Nicaragua. You'll find tips covering the Corn Islands, Masaya and San Juan Del Sur. The picture (to the left) sums up the untouched beauty of Little Corn Island. Hopefully my tips will help make your stay on "Gilligan's Island" a more enjoyable one... hahaha

Peru

Peru is known for the Nasca lines, Machu Pichu and many other popular sights. While these are truly amazing, Peru offers far more for the adventurous traveler than these popular 'gringo trail' destinations.

My Peru page focuses on the Amazon, Iquitos, Lago Titicaca with a bit of Lima and Cusco thrown in for good measure.

Belize

Much to experience in Belize. This small English speaking country packs heaps of adventure into a very small package.

Visit Caye Caulker and dive one the world's greatest reefs. Explore 2000 year old Maya ruins in the pristine Belizean jungles. Discover sacrificial remains & pottery of the Maya, in extensive caving systems. Kick back on the beaches of Ambergis Caye or my favorite... chill in a hammock and drink a few Belikin

Honduras

Honduras offers great, inexpensive diving, the best seafood I've experienced, pristine beaches and the greatest of jungle adventures into the heart of La Moskitia.

A place I will be escaping to at least once a year, for the diving alone. Highly recommended!

Canada

I mostly cover backcountry camping in Algonquin Provincial Park, a bit of cottage country and downtown Toronto, where I presently call home. Good tips for those wanting to take advantage of central Canada's great wilderness.

I have yet to find a destination in this world that offers an equalled challenge to that of the Canadian wilderness.

Panama

Panama is home to the sweetest people I've ever met and a place 'full of surprises' for the adventure-driven traveler.

Home of the infamous Darian jungle, great beaches, yummy ceviche, decent diving, good rafting, a wonderful transportation system and the tranquil beauty one could only find in places like El Valle, Bastimentos and Boquete.

Jamaica

Hmmm... not my typical type of destination and far too touristy for my liking but, fun none-the-less.

To get away from it all, try chillin' out in one of the more tranquil towns like Treasure Beach.
