Every house loooks the same! - Ahwatukee

Ahwatukee was my home back during the summer of 2000, and it looks like I'll be spending a lot more time there in the near future. Ahwahtukee is the part of Phoenix that lies just south of the South Mountain Preserve. My first trip to Ahwahtukee was nice, though there was a bit of culture shock. Every building there is a mix of tan and reddish brown. There are stores on nearly every corner, but at first I had a bit of trouble figuring out where to go to find this store or that, since they all look pretty similar.

Phobe the Dove

This mourning dove lived at the house. Mourning doves have lived here for over ten years.. the nest is occupied every summer. This time it was a bit more crowded in the nest. There were a few chicks in the nest as well as the mother dove.

This house could be in any central FL neighborhood too...aaahhh, the beauty of the American suburbs...;-))
