One very sunny fall weekend in Villach I had no plans, so I decided to go for a run along the Drau. People were looking a bit funny at me since I was out in a tee and shorts on a crisp fall day, but it was a nice day for a run. I came across a waterfall and a turn-off from the bike path that lead up to St Martin. I had been along the Drau before and thought it might be nice to see where that little stream that formed the waterfall was from. So, I headed that way. Unfortunately, before long that small stream dipped behind fences on private property so I was unable to follow it. However, I continued along the road in that direction and came across St Georgen instead. There they had a lot of campgrounds in the woods and even a deer park where they raise deer. I continued through St Georgen and found a house with a dozen cats in the front. On the far side, I saw farmers mowing hay and cows in a field which surrounded a very old graveyard. I turned around there, and was afforded a great view back to Villach and could even see Landskron Castle very clearly. Unfortunately, since it was just supposed to be a jog I never grabbed my camera.

On my second trip to St Georgen, I went with my friend Silvia to concert at the cultural hall. One of her classmates was in a band called "Assaria Voices" that was playing there. We got there and were somewhat suprised since we had assumed that it would be a pop or rock sort of concert, but it turned out to be a gospel music concert. It felt like we were in church! All of the songs were in English and very familiar to me. They started out with a piano and bongo drum version of "When the saints come marching in". The pianist was very good. He could keep a beat and play two melodies quickly at the same time. The singers came up next and they played several songs including "Somewhere" and "In the Arms of an Angel" along with many gospel songs. All in all it was a very good concert.
