Thingvellir National Park - Þingvellir

Thingvellier National Park - This place is picturesque with the beautiful lake and mountains in the background and the tiny white schoolhouse. It has strange crumbling cliff walls and a deep blue stream that never freezes filled with glittering coins. It also comes with geologic and historic significance! It is the former sight of the Althing, the Viking Parliment, purported to be the oldest parliment in the world. It is where Iceland declared its independance from Denmark. It is also a no-man's land, the place where the North American and Eurasian plates are splitting apart, so it technically isn't on either continent!

On a side note, the Britsh army noticed that the stream here never froze in the winter and believed that the water was a new miracle antifreeze which they attempted to use in their radiators. Actually it's the high flow rate of the stream that keeps it from freezing.
