Ladies and gentlemen, throw out your geography books. This is where Oslo is located. -------------------> I first set feet in Oslo in October 1998. 13th... I still remember the first impressions: the air is thiner, the atmosphere is closer, people dress colorfully and walk along the colorful streets craved in the middle of this pale weather... And there was Oslo. I couldn't find one single thing in common with my reality and was it fascinating! There is, after all, a possibility of leading a life without any of the things I considered normal and fundamental. Different archictecture, I felt at the same time in some futuristic scenario, the Mary Poppins movie and at a doll city. The Harbour, the stands, the fair, the crowd on the street at a soccer championship decision day... so different of what I had seen! My story with Oslo is therefore a matter of magnetism - the opposites attracted. I spent most of the time working in my first trip to Norway, but the second time was dedicated to go deeper into the place. I thing there is hardly one street I haven't passed by in Oslo. I have an excellent ear > My vocabulary increased and acquired a funny accent, since I learnt from a friend from Bergen, another from Stavanger, another from Mandal, a few from Oslo and from some Pakistanians at the grocery store near the place where I was staying. Here's some tips and memories of Oslo. Some. |
fresh pictures... spring is coming and there's nothing more rewarding than taking a walk on the streets of oslo. I have two favourite routes: 1. from the northern part of down, following Akerselva (the river that splits the city in two halves); 2. from Grønland or Gamlebyen ("low class" - in scandinavian terms, of course - "downtown", "imigrant") to Bygdoy (the "trendy" and "fancy" and "expensive" and louxurious part - also in scandinavian terms). This picture was taken in the Easter holiday 2003, and is just a glimpse of the royal garden. Rett og slett. | | |
| | why does it suddenly sound like I love rivers? hmmm... well, this is a snapshot of Glomma, the biggest one in Norway. Not far from Oslo indeed... behold, oh thee of little faith... |
