This picture is called "São Paulo" and was painted by one of the best painters of all times, Tarsila do Amaral. You can find some of her work in the Art Museum of São Paulo, MASP, and you should do so!

* YOU´RE LISTENING TO "TICO-TICO NO FUBA", CLASSIC CHORO SONG PERFORMED BY THE BEST FLUTE PLAYER IN THE COUNTRY, ALTAMIRO CARRILHO!*

São Paulo is known by the nickname of "Sampa". It's hard to talk about this fascinating city. Being from Bahia it should be impossible for me - if I should follow the stigmatized expectations - to say that I adore São Paulo.
I ADORE SÃO PAULO
So what if the traffic is hellish? So is Paris'. So what if the air is not that clean? It hardly is in big cities. So what if it has no beach? **** it, Viena doesn't have them either.
"São Paulo is like the entire world". If you are fascinated by the mix of ethnic groups, this is the place to visit. You can buy chinese crafts cheaper than in China, italian goods cheaper than in Italy. The japanese, chinese, italian, arabian and jewish colony are extremely strong in this city.
Let me tell you what São Paulo is all about: the best museums in the country. The best academic centres in the country and certainly some of the best in Latin America. NIGHTLIFE! If you wake up 4 am and feel like eating special grape leaves from southern Uzbequistan - ta daaa! You'll find it in Sampa!
Sao Paulo is not a silly catwalk model, though. It has a hidden beauty. So the first time you go there, you hate it. Second time, you hate it. Third time, well, you think after all it's not that bad. Fourth time... you are in love with it!
