  • Dana Tower Hotel is a really nice hotel in the old stonevillage Dana. After travelling around their "tent" is the perfect place to relax in. It is such a peaceful place. The walking in the Nature Reserve is also good.
Nabil and Hamzi at the hotel are very helpful and will make you feel very welcome.
This is a hotel to return to.

    Araba Hotel, Wadi Mousa

  • Araba Hotel is a friendly and cheap hotel high up in Wadi Mousa. The view is fantastic. Breakfast is served on the balkony (at least in summertime) and dinner, togheter with all other guests at the hotel, is served on the roof. It's very nice to sit on the roof having a coffee or tea watching the sunset over the mountains after a long day of walking in Petra.
I can't remember what I paid for a room but whene I checked out I paid 24 JD for three nights, two dinners and two bottles of water.
At Araba they can help you organise with a reliable guide in Wadi Rum (desert trip by jeep or camel).

  • Alcazar Hotel is a three star hotel with a swimmingpool, divingcenter (SeaStar Divingcenter) and beach club (Club Murjan). They can arange trips to Petra and Wadi Rum.
The price is resonable and includes a breakfast buffet (by the pool). You can book a package hotel + diving in advance and get a good price. I paid 290 JD for 7 nights with 10 dives.

  • Farah Hotel is a centraly located budget hotel. The bathrooms are shared and there is a refrigerator to use on each floor. I stayed there for one night in 2002 and remember it to be very clean (that is also what is written in the guidebooks). When I was there in 2005 the reception was clean (but too much smoke sometimes around the computor), but the bathrooms and sheets were not as clean as it should be. In 2002 I stayed in a small single room but the second time there there was as uch as four beds in my room. I paid 7 JD in 2002 and the same in 2005.
    Prices below are from 2002:
    Single: 7 JD
    Double: 9 JD
    Dorm: 4 JD
    Roof: 2,5 JD
    Internet: 1 JD/hour

Farah Hotel organises day tours (car with driver) to several places close to Amman and if you find someone to share the price with it is good value.

  • Madaba Hotel is a good budget hotel centraly lokated in Madaba. The bathrooms are shared. I stayed there for three nights (Madaba is a good base for seeing The Dead Sea and Mt Nebo) and paid 8 JD/night with breakfast included.
From the room you can hear the bells of St George's Church.

I just saw this thing on the Travel Channel where the king took a reporter around the country. It was spectacular and seemed very safe for travel! Can't wait to go there some day.
