"South Queensferry" South Queensferry by MalenaN

South Queensferry Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 20 photos

South Queensferry is a picturesque village between the two Forth Bridges. It is situated on the south shore of Firth and Forth (Forth River) and from here ferries used to cross the river, before the bridges were built. In the village you will find some shops, cafes and pubs. There is a museum, but it is only open a few days a week (it was closed when I was there). In the vicinity there are two Houses to visit, Hopetoun House and Dalmeny House. April to October you can take a ferry over to Incholm Island to visit the ruins of the abbey.
South Queensferry lies 13 km west of Edinburgh city centre and is within the official boundaries of the city

Lovely little page about South Queensferry here. I crossed the impressive Firth of Forth bridge quite a few times by train, but never really visited these small places on the other side of the river.

Thank you for visiting Holger. South Queensferry was a nice little place. However I didn't stay very long, just long enough to go to the pub and eat and take a walk around the place.
I have been looking for your Uppsala page, but I have not seen any photos or tips appearing there jet.

Nice little page about South Queensferry. It looks very photogenic, and a nice day trip from Edinburgh.

Nice page on this side of the Forth Bridge also! The pub on the little cobblestone street looks like a nice stop.

my adult daughter and I are arriving via cruise ship and will only have 12 hours in the area. Do you have suggestions for our time? Are there tours available from the cruise terminal? Thanks for your help. nancy penner (nj93010@yahoo.com

Great photos and information on these impressive bridges! That is a nice looking bike/pedestrian path too - I always like exploring by foot in England, you never know what you will find!
