Hedemora Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 116 photos
Hedemora is a small town (there is only about 7000 inhabitants) in the south of Dalarna. It was the nearest town from where I lived as a kid, and it is the town where I went to school for six years (from form 7).
Hedemora is the oldest town in Dalarna and it became a town in 1446. For centuries it was an important trade centre with one of the largest yearly markets in Sweden. Still several old buildings can be seen in the town but fires have destroyed many of the old buildings during the years.
In the vicinity of Hedemora there are many natural beautiful, and cultural historic places.

A lovely little page. The church looks very nice and atmospheric.
a lovely place, but when I read about Kloster Gunpowder Mill , I think of the german name Kloster = monastery and it is strange they make gunpowder ! ;-)
Now, I know where to go next!
The lake area and the architecture in town are fabulous. You did a very nice job of showing and sites in photos and comments.
Looks like a lovely place to grow up and go to school. Good that they have a Theatre Barn and museum. -- Have a great trip to India!
Lovely scenery in Hedemora, esp. the rivers. Also a very charming church with beautiful interior.
Hedemora looks like a lovely town. I'm sure that, for a young child, the prospect of jumping into Lake Hönsan from the top of the big diving tower is quite daunting.
You take such great pictures, Malena....that Hedemora Lake with the reflection looks awesome....I can't believe you haven't been to Madrid! Madrid will look even better with your photography...Norman :)
Loved the buildings surrounded by snow & the lakes are beautiful - The Church is exceptionally splendid - an attractive place
Nice to read about your hometown. No wonder you like water sports and hotter weather :) Cheers from Penang, SL
