| The alabaster sphinx in Memphis |
|
| | When Upper and Lower Egypt was united in 3100 BC farao Narmer founded Memphis as the new capital, and it stayed capital for a long time. Visiting today it is difficult to understand that Memphis was once one of the greatest cities of the ancient world. What can be seen today is only an open-air museum with a few statues. |

jumpingnorman Mon Feb 23, 2009 22:26 UTC I missed this Memhis statue, sigh...Norman :) | LoriPori Tue Jan 20, 2009 22:44 UTC I think you were wise to hire a driver to bring you to all these places. Public Transport isn't always convenient. and you got to see what you wanted in one day. | matcrazy1 Sat Jan 20, 2007 03:31 UTC Don't they plan to stand the statue on artificial legs? That would be impressive! | SLLiew Fri Nov 17, 2006 19:08 UTC Wow... Really impressive statues. |
