The minaret of Yakutiye Seminary

Erzurum is situated at an altitude of 1850 m with bare hills around. The view over the city and the surrounding mountains is very nice from the clocktower inside the citadel. Other sights in Erzurum are Ulu Cami, Cifte Minareli Medrese and Yakutiye Medrese, now housing the Turkish - Islamic Art and Ethnography Museum.

Far East Turkey! Its a beautiful place. And your transportation tips are so nice to read, as usual, Malena! I have a plan to Anatolia, but may be not that far east.

It looks like you had beautiful weather while in Erzurum! I like the countryside of eastern Turkey and was amazed by the beautiful architecture, dating so far back in time!
