In the middle of the desert, at Palmyra (the local name is Tadmor) there are the impressive ruins of a Roman city, dating back to the 2nd century AD. On top of the hill there is an Arab castle from the 17th century, from where there is a nice view over the ruins, desert and the sunset. |
