"Tol˙ and the San Bernardo Islands" Tol¨ by MalenaN

Tol¨ Travel Guide: 11 reviews and 68 photos

Tol˙ is situated along the Caribbean coast at the Golfo de Morrosquillo. It is a small town with a population of about 35 000 people. It was founded in 1535 and the town got its name from the Tol˙es who inhabited the area at that time. There are few cars on the streets in Tol˙ and the atmosphere is very laid back. Not many backpackers are coming here jet, but there are Colombian tourists. The beaches are not very nice in the town for swimming (they are supposed to be much nicer in Cove˝as 20 km to the southwest), but the lovely Archipelago de San Bernardo is nearby. The average air temperature is 29 degrees C and it rains in May - October.

The San Bernardo Islands are part of a national park, together with Rosario Islands. In Archipelago San Bernardo there are ten small coral islands with crystal clear water around. From Tol˙ daytrips are organised to the islands.

Too bad the tours were so rushed, because otherwise this looks like a lovely area.

What a lovely coloured ocean, it's so pretty! I could see some feet in the photos of the Toucans and wondered if you were in with them? I really like the photos you have of them.

Preparations for my trip have started :) I would very much enjoy the tranquil feel of Tol˙! Islas San Bernardo seems to be a nice day trip option, Isla Mucura looks exceptionally inviting :) And Villa Babilla sounds like an excellent accommodation choice!

What a fantastic place!! Villa Babilla sounds like a perfect place to stay, I like the rooms and the way they build the lofts :-) Oh and the sea colour around the islands... and this restaurant on Isla Mucura - that's how I remember Colombia's coast :-)

Great to see a rainy pictures among all this sunshine! I've never been in a hammock and wonder whether I would find it comfortable.
